Consultation for Surgery Suitability
A consultation is absolutely essential to ascertaining whether surgery is suitable in any individual case.
This consultation is the opportunity for the patient to talk and discuss their patient journey to this stage, their concerns with their breasts, why they want surgery and the results they hope for.
The surgeon will listen and then offer their recommendation and their suggested plan of best action. It goes without saying that the more experienced a surgeon, the greater their speciality in breast procedures, the greater likelihood they can deliver the results a patient craves.

The Process for Treating Congenital Breast
There is no singular treatment method as congenital breast is a term that covers a range of conditions and concerns.
Ultimately, the skill and experience of the surgeon are key, ensuring they can utilise the best approach in each case – you do not want a surgeon who has more of a one-size-fits-all approach to surgery.
One option will be implants, the implants could be to add shape or volume as required and this could create symmetry between the breasts if this is a concern,
In other instances, it may be that rearranging existing breast tissue can resolve the problems – or this could be used in combination with implants.
Fat transfer will be a wonderful option in some situations this is where fat is grafted from another part of the body and then used to reshape the breasts. A benefit of this procedure is that it can improve two areas at once, potentially removing far from an area where this is desirable, and then also improving the appearance of the breasts.
Common areas for the fat to be grafted from include the abdomen, thighs and buttocks.
Which method would be best in any individual case cannot be said here, this would be discussed in consultation. The surgeon will use all information at their disposal, this including the patient’s full medical history.
The operation is likely to take between two and three hours.
There is a recovery period post-surgery and strenuous physical activity should be avoided for a period of weeks. Final results may not be fully apparent until some months after surgery – your surgeon would detail the full recovery process.
