Available at the superb BMI Private Hospital, breast augmentation surgery is among the most popular cosmetic procedures in Bath.
The surgery can be relatively straightforward, certainly it is a common procedure for any experienced cosmetic surgeon.
However, that is not to say that all surgeons are equal, that they all deliver the same results.
Breast augmentation is a procedure that for many women is truly life enhancing. The procedure can create a firmer, larger, more voluminous look and also tackle issues such as breasts that are misshapen or not fully symmetrical.
Elena is not the only superb surgeon in Bath, however she does have an unmatched CV.
In her 20 year career, Elena has held prestigious Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery – this includes holding one of the UK’s leading Fellowships, the Fellowship in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction at Guys and St Thomas’.
Other fellowships have been held in Italy, Spain, India, Belgium and at the stunning University Hospital in Tokyo.
Elena has held many international awards and certificates and had research published in leading medical journals – you can read more on the About page.
This level of expertise is not mentioned to be boastful, instead simply to show that for anyone considering great augmentation in Bath Elena is a superb option. Please take the time to thoroughly research any cosmetic surgeon you consider choosing.
The surgeon’s technical skills are of course of great importance, but so too is their ethos. What is their manner with patients, how do they make them feel, how empathetic are they and how do they ensure end results truly match the patient’s intentions.
Elena puts patient satisfaction above everything, as she says:
“The one thing that matters most to me when I am with a patient is empathy.
It is only when you are able to identify and understand your patients problems that you can begin to help resolve them satisfactorily. A good surgical outcome is not the only thing that matters. Everything that you do and say to a patient has to come from your heart.”
It is of course easy to speak of having a superb manner with patients, but what do independent reviews state? For Elena, they are universally positive, five stars across Iwantgreatcare and Google’s own independent reviews. Please take some time to read patient testimonials via the links below.
Key to a superb outcome with a breast augmentation procedure in Bath – or any procedure for that matter – is having a full and open consultation between prospective patient and surgeon.
Elena prides herself in holding detailed consultations where the patient can talk through their hopes for surgery, the results they are hoping for, and Elena can assess the best options available and suggest a plan.
Elena would discuss the ideal breast size and shape with the patient, with careful consideration given to the patient’s overall physique. Elena would explain how the implant will push or lift the breast tissue forward to create that larger, enhanced look.
Second consultations are then common, this giving the patient real time to think and consider their options – this including whether cosmetic surgery is truly for them. Key to a superb outcome is ensuring that only those truly ready for procedures have then undertaken.
The breast augmentation procedure itself is relatively straightforward for a surgeon of Elena’s skill, experience and level of specialism. The precise nature of the process will vary depending on the patient and desired results, but some aspects are common to all procedures – for instance the implant is inserted between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest wall muscle. The incision through which the implant is inserted will be made either in the crease below the breast, under the arm or around the nipple.
Elena only uses the highest quality implants and has never used PIP implants in her practice.
Recovery time will vary depending on the exact nature of the surgery, but Elena would outline all the key information during consultation – this including cost, length of surgery, recovery time (with full stages, for instance the length of time until you can be partially active / return to work / return to all activities).

Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
