Breast implants are a hugely popular cosmetic procedure in London – in fact the most popular – but not all surgeons performing this procedure are equal.
Elena Prousskaia is not just a leading female cosmetic surgeon, she is a leading surgeon full stop.
She is a true specialist in breast surgery having held the world-renowned Fellowship in microsurgical breast reconstruction and Breast Oncoplastic Surgery at London’s Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital.
.
The breast implant procedure will have an obvious physical impact, but it can also do so much to boost confidence and self esteem.
In this page, we will provide details about breast implant procedures in London, including key information, and also outline why you should consider Elena Prousskaia for the procedure.
Having breasts that are too small, or not the desired shape can greatly impact any woman’s state of mind, Elena Prousskaia understands these concerns and how the surgery is about so much more than the physical change.
The surgery can also help to resolve issues such as tuberous and asymmetrical breast, implants helping to resolve issues in the shape of breasts, or address any imbalance.
For many women, the need for some form of breast surgery may be apparent from puberty and yet it is only much later that they are able to afford a procedure.
Ms Prousskaia sums up the impact surgery can have when speaking of her ethos. She says.
The one thing that matters most to me when I am with a patient is empathy.
It is only when you are able to identify and understand your patients problems that you can begin to help resolve them satisfactorily. A good surgical outcome is not the only thing that matters. Everything that you do and say to a patient has to come from your heart.
I consider myself very lucky to be able to share my passion for what I do and hopefully bring a bit more happiness into my patients’ lives.
The process for breast implants always begins with a detailed consultation, this is your opportunity to outline your hopes for surgery and Ms Prousskaia to recommend a plan of best action.
If surgery is the best option, the procedure is one that is performed regularly in London’s private hospitals. It is a procedure that a large number of cosmetic surgeons can perform, but that is not to say all results are equal. Few can come even close to Ms Prousskaia’s expertise in breast surgery.
The benefit of this skill and experience is shown in the final results – breast implants that lead to a size and shape that makes the profound difference you seek, yet looks completely natural and in tune with your body. This is the aim of world class cosmetic surgery; to produce visible improvement, but not in a visible way.
The operation itself typically takes around an hour and is performed under general anaesthetic.
Ms Prousskaia would make an incision either in the crease below the breast, under the arm or around the nipple.
From there, the breast implant is inserted between the breast tissue and chest muscle or behind the chest wall muscle.

The surgery can produce the physical change that is desired, and so too the psychological change; the boost to confidence and self esteem. Results look natural, giving the breasts better shape and definition but in keeping with the rest of your body, height and weight.
The results achieve the boost to self-esteem that many seek too. Ms Prousskaia speaks often of the joy seeing the change brings, and how it transforms people’s lives.

Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
