Breast reduction surgery – or mammaplasty – is a procedure that is both affordable and readily available in Croydon.
The breast reduction procedure itself is increasingly common and is a relatively simple operation for an experienced and skilled cosmetic surgeon.
In Croydon, mammaplasty procedures tend to be undertaken at the Croydon BMI Hospital, a superb, modern facility with 67 en-suite rooms and two superbly equipped operating theatres.
Breasts that are either outsized or out of proportion can have both a physical and psychological impact.
Physically, they can cause discomfort and also be a source of postural issues if left unchecked. However, the psychological impact can be just as great, the breasts leading to reduced self-confidence and self-esteem.
The impacts of surgery can therefore be huge. Discomfort can be alleviated, future problems prevented (such as chronic backache) and self-esteem can be restored, leading to benefits in all areas of life such as work and in personal relationships.
The operation itself is typically straightforward.
An amount of breast and fatty tissue is removed and the breast reshaped and positioned to create the optimum shape. This procedure can also be used to correct an imbalance between breasts whether that is through size of breast or position.
A hospital stay of one night is required – this no hardship in the Croydon BMI’s luxurious rooms – the surgery itself likely to take between 90 and 180 minutes. Some post operation recuperation is required, this will usually be between one and two weeks of reduced activity.
There are numerous cosmetic surgeons who can perform breast reduction surgery in Croydon, each of them qualified and capable of the task. Why then consider Elena Prousskaia?
Elena stands apart, her CV, reputation and proven record of customer satisfaction unmatched. There are many surgeons who can perform the breast reduction, but you want the optimal results.
Elena, a cosmetic surgeon with 20 years’ experience and a global reputation, specialises in breast reconstruction surgery, this demonstrated by her having held the Fellowship in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction at the world leading Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital. She has also held Fellowships in India, Italy, Barcelona, Belgium and the amazing University Hospital in Tokyo.
By entrusting Elena, you are also getting the certainty that you have a surgeon with empathy, a world renowned female surgeon whose only aim is to deliver cosmetic surgery that is truly life enhancing. As she says:
“The one thing that matters most to me when I am with a patient is empathy.
It is only when you are able to identify and understand your patients problems that you can begin to help resolve them satisfactorily. A good surgical outcome is not the only thing that matters. Everything that you do and say to a patient has to come from your heart.
I consider myself very lucky to be able to share my passion for what I do and hopefully bring a bit more happiness into my patients’ lives.”
Achieving these results always begins with a lengthy, detailed consultation, this allowing the prospective patient to talk through their aims for surgery and Elena to outline the best course of action. A second consultation then follows, this allowing enough time for the patient to consider if surgery truly is for them.
It is of course easy to speak of having a patient-focused ethos, but what do independent review say?
For Elena they are stunning, universally five stars. Please take the time to read some reviews via the links below, and do this for any surgeon you may consider for procedures in Croydon or elsewhere.

This commonly performed operation involves reducing the amount of breast and fatty tissue, as well reshaping and positioning the breasts to an optimum shape. Some people choose the procedure to correct an imbalance or asymmetry between the breasts.
Carried out under general anaesthetic, the procedure requires a hospital stay of one night, generally taking around 3 hours complete. During the procedure itself, the breasts are reshaped, and the nipples are repositioned to form smaller and younger looking breasts. The scars will be placed around the nipple-areola complex, vertically and sometimes in the lower breast (inframammary) folds. The placement of scars will depend on your preference and the recommendation of your surgeon, Elena Prousskaia.
A short period of recuperation is required after undertaking a breast reduction procedure, generally of between one and two weeks of reduced activity. The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of both its pre and post operative care so we’ll make sure you’re completely informed, relaxed and comfortable at all stages of the process. Once you’ve gone home we’re always on call for advice as things begin to heal.

While complications with breast surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are bleeding, infection, scarring and an adverse reaction to anaesthesia. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking, this surgery takes around 2.5-3 hours, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
You will wear your support bra for up to 4-6 weeks after surgery – then you can look at purchasing your own ‘normal’ bras for everyday wear once fully healed.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
