Dermal fillers in Bath are used to add volume to areas of the face, helping to lessen the signs of ageing and create a youthful, energised appearance.
The fillers, also known as facial fillers, are a non-surgical injectable, commonly thought of as a minimally invasive treatment. They can be a superb option for anyone who wants a more youthful appearance or has a specific area of concern such as a weak jawline, but does not want to undergo full cosmetic procedures.
They are a safe treatment, the hyaluronic gel is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. However, as mentioned previously, that is not to say there is not value to choosing an experienced practitioner
Lip fillers are available in Bath through Elena Prousskaia, a world-renowned cosmetic surgeon who brings that level of expertise to the under-regulated world of minimally invasive procedures.
Dermal fillers can be used to enhance many areas of the face, they are a suitable treatment for:
The skin, with volume added, will look more youthful and refreshed, this creating an overall appearance of well-being.
The dermal fillers can be used to target just one specific area, or a group of areas to create what can be called a non-surgical facelift, this also in combination with other treatments such as Botox and facial peels.
Dermal fillers work through injection, they stimulate lost collagen as the body naturally stops producing collagen as we age.
The gel injected contains hyaluronic acid, this works to reverse the impact of depleted collagen and elastin – both of which are reduced in volume as we age.
Skilled surgeons with excellent knowledge of facial anatomy can introduce the fillers to multiple layers of the skin or deep tissue, this leading to an amazing rejuvenating effect.
The fillers typically use substances that occur naturally in the body and so are easily absorbed and feel natural.
Because they work by stimulating collagen generation they are not permanent but results can last for up to 18 months – this will vary by type of filler, area of the face and quantity of filler.
To maintain results, the patient would have further treatments.
It is worth noting that there is a lack of overall regulation relating to dermal fillers, almost anyone can offer to inject them.
However, they are injections into the face and so a deep understanding of facial anatomy is required to achieve the results the patient desires.
Elena Prousskaia is one of the UK’s leading cosmetic surgeons and she also offers fillers and botox as treatments – this means that she has a deep understanding of the face, has held Fellowships in numerous leading global hospitals and is qualified to the highest levels.
This level of knowledge leads to results that are visible and make a profound difference but do not have the obvious look of work being done. They create a more youthful, enhanced appearance.
Any experienced practitioner would also offer a detailed consultation, this a chance for the person considering dermal fillers to discuss their aims for this procedure and the expert to outline the process and results achievable.
Do dermal fillers have side effects?
Unlike a full cosmetic procedure, there is no downtime post procedure, no need to have time off work or cancel activities.
There may be some pain and swelling, but this is likely to be minimal and will typically pass inside 48 hours. The injections themselves cause only mild pain at worst as a mild anaesthetic is used to numb the local area.
How long do they last?
The broad range is between six and 18 months – this because it varies by amount of filler used, the type of filler, the area of the face and the nature of the change they have generated, for instance smoothing fine lines or helping to re-shape the jawline.
An experienced practitioner will be able to give a far more specific estimate as to how long results will last in each area.
Are Results Immediate?
You can see the impact of the fillers straightaway, but it may be that swelling has to subside for full results to be seen.
Are Results Predictable?
Yes and no. This depends on the person administering the filler. An experienced practitioner with solid medical training can certainly predict the results the fillers will create, but this may not be the case for someone who is inexperienced and using fillers to generate a little extra income.
The nature of the fillers will also play a role. It is worth noting that modern fillers can be flushed out with an enzyme, this immediately negating their impact.

Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.

Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
