Available at the superb Elena Prousskaia Clinic in Bristol from one of the best female cosmetic surgeons in the UK, Dermal fillers are a highly effective and affordable non-surgical injectable that can make anyone look refreshed, more youthful and re-energised.
The fillers are often the best option for anyone who wants an enhanced appearance but does not want a more invasive full cosmetic procedure.
Essentially, dermal fillers provide the best of both worlds – that youthful lift in appearance but without the need for surgery or a payment stretching to thousands of pounds.
In Bristol, there are many clinics and beauticians who offer this treatment so why consider Elena Prousskaia?
With Elena, you receive a level of expertise that is unsurpassed, Elena is a word-renowned cosmetic surgeon who has held numerous Fellowships around the world, including at London’s Guys and St Thomas. She carries this level of training, precision and skill into her work with injectables.
This greater knowledge of facial anatomy enables Elena to introduce the fillers to multiply layers and produce truly transformative results.
You don’t have to be a leading cosmetic surgeon to be able to work with injectables and apply a dermal filler, but why allow someone with few qualifications and limited, if any, training to inject Hyaluronic Acid into your face?
Dermal fillers can be used to enhance numerous parts of the face, these including the lips, cheekbones, nose and across the forehead.
The skin can also look rejuvenated and that bit more youthful, creating an overall appearance of well being.
Dermal fillers in Bristol are used to promote anti-ageing, for the treatment of lines and wrinkles, for improving the nose to mouth region and reducing mouth lines.
The treatment can have the following advantages.
Popular areas for filling lines and creases include:
Any area that has lost volume and plumpness is a candidate for the procedure, the filler acting to stimulate the lost collagen.
The dermal fillers are small injections of gel, typically containing hyaluronic acid, that act to fill in wrinkles and add volume to soft tissue in the face.
They work to counteract the effects of ageing and specifically the fact that from our mid 20s we stop producing collagen and elastin to the same levels. This effect continues until the point whereby we stop producing these altogether.
The process is therefore to inject the dermal filler into the face to counteract the loss of these naturally occurring substances; the skill lies in how much to inject and where, while the quality of the fillers used must also be considered.
Results can last for a lengthy period – typically in the range of six to 18 months, nine months to one year being very typical – a more detailed estimate being given based on the exact nature of the procedure.
The injections are performed as an out-patients procedure and there is no need for an overnight stay.
One of the benefits of entrusting someone as skilled as Elena with injecting the filler is that you have the cosmetic surgeon’s understanding of how to achieve best results. Results have to be visible, they have to make a difference, but they also have to be natural looking.
The person who receives dermal fillers should look that bit younger, rejuvenated and energised, but they should still be themselves. There should not be that very visible look of ‘work having been done’.
One huge advantage of these treatments and this form dermal fillers is that it is possible to have a procedure and then go about the rest of your day as usual.
There is no need for time off work for instance, nor to avoid exercise or driving.
Some swelling, redness and tenderness are quite common after a treatment of dermal fillers but these typically pass inside 48 hours.
The injections can also hurt a little, though this is mild discomfort at worst. They are administered with a mild anaesthetic to numb the local area.
The consultation is as important as the injections themselves.
At a detailed consultation, the practitioner can discuss the achievable outcomes with the prospective patient. This ensures that results match expectations while also helping to determine the best course of action is selected.
You can outline which bits of your face you are seeking to have boosted while a practitioner, if experienced enough, can decide how this can be achieved; the amount to be injected and where and how to layer these injections so that they work with the natural facial aesthetics.
A consultation also allows anyone to give due consideration to whether this treatment and fillers are truly for them, they can go away and make a final decision free of any pressure.
The cost of fillers will be broadly similar across all qualified, experienced practitioners – please be wary of any fillers that seem far cheaper as these are liable to be low-quality products.
The cost varies by the nature of treatment and amount of filler – however a detailed quote would be provided by Elena at the consultation.
Across Bristol, there are dozens of dermal filler clinics, individuals and beauticians who offer dermal fillers and similar treatments as a service.
This proliferation is largely because, surprisingly, almost anyone can administer a dermal filler, unlike in other country where it is necessary to be more highly qualified.
Whoever you choose, please ensure they have a proven reputation, use the highest quality fillers and have a level of experience you would expect of someone who is going to be administering injections.

With a population of 434,000 as of the 2011 Census, Bristol is a city in the south west of England
Bristol and the surrounding area is seen as one of the most desirable areas of the UK in which to live – it was selected in 2009 as one of the world’s top 10 cities by international travel publishers Dorling Kindersley and it was named the best city in Britain to live in by the Sunday Times in every year from 20414 to 2017. The city also won the prestigious EU European Green Capital Award in 2015.
Formerly a key trading hub, Bristol is now at the forefront of many newer industries and technologies, these including aerospace, defence, media, information technology, financial services and tourism industries. The city also has clinics and surgeries for many of the UK’s leading surgeons, becoming a centre every bit as in-demand as London’s Harley Street.
The actor Cary Grant was born in the city, while more recent Bristolians include comedians Russell Howard and writer-comedian Stephen Merchant.
Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
