Traditional hair transplants involve the transplantation of a strip of skin with hair follicles attached from an area of healthy growth to the part of the scalp suffering hair loss. This type of transplant is a significant procedure requiring a longer recovery time than the FUE.
During the FUE hair transplant, the head is shaved, then individual follicles or units are taken from the back and sides of the client’s head, where growth tends to be most vigorous. These follicles are carefully preserved then transferred to the problem areas and inserted into small incisions in the scalp.
The process only requires a local anaesthetic. The FUE transplant typically lasts between 6-10 hours; however, the length of the procedure depends on how many follicles need to be harvested to provide the desired hair restoration.
