Whatever your age and whatever the cause, hair loss can seriously affect self-esteem and your ability to enjoy life to the full.
Male pattern baldness is often seen as a natural part of ageing, but a surprising number of very young men are also affected. Research suggests that 16% of men between 18 and 29 will suffer from moderate to extensive hair loss.
Women are also affected, with up to two-thirds of women experiencing hair loss due to hormonal changes around menopause.
The Follicular Unit Excision (FUE) hair transplant harvests the client’s own hair by removing individual hair follicles from areas of the head with abundant coverage, usually the back and sides, and transplanting them to areas suffering hair loss.
Elena Prousskaia’s team of expert hair transplant specialists ensure they deliver on your expectations., The clinic was founded by Elena Prousskaia, an experienced and highly qualified plastic surgeon. She worked for several years as an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital in Bristol before setting up her own private practice to the highest standards.
Elena prioritises the happiness and safety of her patients above everything else, and all the members of her team share her exceptional levels of patient care and surgical skill.

Elena Prousskaia’s team is delighted to be offering their services within the superb modern environment of the Bristol Spire Hospital.
When undergoing a hair transplant there, the first stage of the process is to have the donor area shaved to provide easy access to your hair follicles.
This can be challenging cosmetically for some clients, but it is an essential part of the process and definitely worth it for the end result!
After administering a local anaesthetic to ensure minimal discomfort, the surgeon will make a circular incision around a hair follicle and remove the whole follicle or unit intact.
This process will be continued until the required number of follicular units has been removed. The harvested follicles are kept at minus 8 to 10 degrees centigrade until the surgeon is ready to implant them. The surgeon will then make tiny incisions on your scalp into which the harvested follicles are inserted.
The process of harvesting and transplantation can take between 6 and 10 hours, depending on how many hair follicles are needed to achieve the desired effect.
You will be able to go home after the procedure without an overnight stay at the hospital. The graft removal process will leave 1 mm holes on your scalp, which will heal within a week to 10 days.
Before you leave the hospital, you will be given detailed instructions on caring for your scalp and advised to rest for a couple of days. You should be able to return to normal activities after three days.
You should expect to see the full benefit of the procedure after 6 to 9 months. There may be minimal scarring at the donor sites, but this will be hidden by even the shortest hairstyles. Within a few months, you will be able to style your hair as you wish and participate in all types of sport without feeling self-conscious.
The success rate for this procedure is very high, and our Bristol clinic has many delighted customers.
Your full consultation at the Elena Prousskaia Bristol clinic will take up to an hour and cost between £150 and £200. Our experienced hair transplant surgeon also could see you for initial no obligation 15 min free video chat and would assess your hair loss during the consultation and decide whether the FUE hair transplant is suitable for you.
If you are a good candidate, the surgeon will determine how many grafts will be required to achieve the desired result. All your questions will be answered at this stage, and the surgeon will explain the procedure to you in detail.
The cost of the transplant depends on the number of grafts required and, therefore, the length of the procedure. The total price will include the work of our skilled surgeon, the anaesthetic, and a review at one, three, six, and twelve months after surgery.

HOW TO FIND US:
With a population of 434,000 as of the 2011 Census, Bristol is a city in the southwest of England
Bristol and the surrounding area is seen as one of the most desirable areas of the UK in which to live – it was selected in 2009 as one of the world’s top 10 cities by international travel publishers Dorling Kindersley and it was named the best city in Britain to live in by the Sunday Times in every year from 20414 to 2017. The city also won the prestigious EU European Green Capital Award in 2015.
Formerly a key trading hub, Bristol is now at the forefront of many newer industries and technologies, including aerospace, defence, media, information technology, financial services and tourism industries. The city also has clinics and surgeries for many of the UK’s leading surgeons, becoming a centre every bit as in-demand as London’s Harley Street.
The actor Cary Grant was born in the city, while more recent Bristolians include comedians Russell Howard and writer-comedian Stephen Merchant.
Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
