Elena Prousskaia is a renowned cosmetic and aesthetic surgeon who worked as an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon for several years.
Elena is very proud to be partnering with some of the most experienced and renowned surgeons in their field. Hair transplants at Elena Prousskaia in London are performed by certified hair transplant surgeons, who will guide you through the process from consultation to the procedure itself.
Elena Prousskaia’s London practice is based in the highly regarded Welbeck Hospital, which has been offering plastic surgery since the 1990s. Elena’s clinic at the Welbeck provides a friendly and relaxed environment in Marylebone in the heart of London.
The FUE hair transplant is a tried and tested procedure that all Elena Proussakaia clinics offer.
During this type of hair transplant, the surgeon will remove individual follicles from the back and sides of the client’s head where growth tends to be healthiest. These follicles are then implanted into the areas of the scalp with poor hair growth, typically the front and top of the head. A local anaesthetic is used to ensure as little discomfort as possible before the surgeon makes an incision around each hair follicle.
The entire follicle or unit is removed and preserved at low temperature until the required number has been removed. These donor hair follicles are then individually inserted into small incisions in the scalp. The duration of the FUE transplant depends on how many hair follicles are required to give you the hair that you desire but will typically take between six and ten hours.
Some clients are disappointed to discover that their heads must be shaved before the procedure begins. This is required so that the surgeon can see and remove the hair follicles easily. Rest assured, your hair will grow back quickly and, of course, will be much thicker than before, making the sacrifice worthwhile!
Results will not be instant, but six to nine months after your FUE hair transplant, you will see the benefits of the procedure. The incisions made by the surgeon may result in the tiniest of scars, but these will be hidden as your hair grows back. You will finally be able to wear your hair however you wish. Hats will become a fashion choice rather than a way to hide your hair loss! You will have the confidence to play sport and swim without constant anxiety about how your hair looks when it is wet or messy. Take a look at our fue hair transplant before and after pictures.
One of the significant advantages of the FUE hair transplant is that clients do not need to stay in hospital overnight. When you leave the London clinic after your procedure, you will be given comprehensive instructions about caring for your scalp and be advised to rest for a few days as the transplant areas heal. If you follow the surgical team’s instructions, you should have a smooth recovery process and be able to start your usual activities three days after the procedure.
Like all our clients, you will have a consultation with a hair transplant surgeon at the London clinic to discuss what is best for you and your hair. The surgeon will discuss your hair issues with you, and together, you will decide if the Follicular Unit Excision hair transplant is the appropriate procedure. If the FUE hair transplant could help your hair loss, the surgeon will tell you more about the process and examine your scalp to decide precisely how many grafts you will need.
One of our hair transplant surgeons will be happy to hold a 15-min video chat with you. The video will be free of charge and will be an opportunity for your hair loss to be assessed and for the surgeon to decide whether the FUE transplant is right for you. If you are a good candidate, then the next stage on your journey is an in-person surgical consultation which costs £200.
The length of the hair transplant procedure will depend on how many grafts you require and will largely determine the cost. It is hard to give a typical price until the surgeon has made an assessment. However, the total cost will include the hair transplant procedure and regular reviews for a year.

Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
