Lip fillers are available in Bristol through Elena Prousskaia, a renowned cosmetic surgeon who has a private clinic in the city.
Using dermal fillers, a technique that rejuvenates the skin and helps to restore volume, the lip filler is a treatment that is quick to perform, safe but has a profound impact.
In this page, we will outline some key details relating to lip injections and lip fillers, what the treatment involves, the impact and answer some common questions.
They are a safe treatment, the hyaluronic gel is a substance that occurs naturally in the body. However, as mentioned previously, that is not to say there is not value to choosing an experienced practitioner
Lip fillers are an injectable that works to counteract the natural effect of ageing.
The injection in the form of a gel contains hyaluronic acid. This acid reverses the impact of depleted collagen and elastin creation. Typically, from around our mid-twenties we stop producing these natural substances in the same quantities and our skin and face gradually suffers, becoming less voluminous, with wrinkles and signs of ageing appearing.
The hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance, rejuvenates the skin, making it plumper with wrinkles essentially filled from within.
The process is to inject the dermal fillers, but the skill lies in knowing how much to inject, precisely where and having the knowledge of facial anatomy that can deliver the very best results. The most skilled and experienced practitioners can apply layers of filler, creating an effect that is natural looking but make a clear improvement.
The results can last close to two years, but a range of nine months to two years is more typical. It is quite usual for people to continue to have more injections, perhaps every nine months or so, to retain that more youthful, but natural look.
The aim with lip fillers and all dermal fillers and similar treatments should be to enhance appearance, but for the appearance to remain natural. There should not be that obvious look of ‘work having been done’.
Key to this impact is the skill and experience of the practitioner – this point cannot be overstated.
It is a strange quirk that in the United Kingdom, dermal fillers can be applied by almost anyone, there are no restrictions to someone putting a sign up saying ‘lip fillers Bristol’.
The fillers may be a safe skin treatment but that isn’t to say you should choose someone who doesn’t have skill and years of experience. Not only will safety be enhanced, but this experience and skill also impacts the end result.
The practitioner needs to know how much gel to use, how the dermal fillers will interact with the face and lips.
The results achievable would be discussed at a detailed consultation. There are some who will offer the injections without consultation, but Elena, as a leading cosmetic surgeon, believes in applying the same high standards to injectables and lip fillers as to a fuller cosmetic procedure.
A consultation is the opportunity to ensure that the customer is happy with the results achievable and also for any questions to be answered. The details of the procedure would be discussed, so too the recovery time and how long the enhancements are likely to last for.
Lip fillers are a hugely popular procedure and one that any experienced practitioner has carried out hundreds or thousands of times.
The procedure is considered safe, it sees a substance that occurs naturally injected, this simply rejuvenating the skin and adding volume.
Unlike a full cosmetic procedure, the process is quick. It takes just 30 minutes to an hour and there is no requirement for a hospital stay.
The procedure is almost pain free, there can be mild discomfort though an injection of local anaesthetic minimises this.
There is no downtime post procedure, no need to book time off work, avoid exercise or driving. There may be specific instructions, these to be discussed during the consultation, but one of the great advantages of lip fillers is that they do not impact on your work or leisure time.
There is likely to be some swelling and redness, this will disappear usually inside a couple of days. A follow-up appointment would be held after four weeks and the results settle down into their final appearance usually after around a month.
The cost of lip fillers will be broadly similar across all qualified, experienced practitioners – any fillers that seem far cheaper as these are liable to be low-quality products.
The cost will vary by the nature of treatment and amount of filler – a detailed quote would be provided by Elena at the consultation.

The area around Bristol is seen as one of the most desirable areas of the UK in which to live – it was selected in 2009 as one of the world’s top 10 cities by international travel publishers Dorling Kindersley and it was named the best city in Britain to live in by the Sunday Times in every year from 20414 to 2017. The city also won the prestigious EU European Green Capital Award in 2015.
Bristol is now at the forefront of many newer industries and technologies, these including aerospace, defence, media, information technology, financial services and tourism industries. Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.

Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
