Mastopexy surgery is available in London through acclaimed female cosmetic surgeon, Elena Prousskaia.
Also known as breast uplift surgery, mastopexy is a popular procedure for women who wish to alleviate the impact of breasts drooping or sagging.
The condition can be caused by ageing, through pregnancy or breastfeeding or genetics. The prospective patient may of course not be overly concerned as to the cause, instead just wanting a solution.
One of the leading experts operating in the UK, having held the prestigious Fellowship in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction at Guys and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, Ms Prousskaia has worked with many women to help resolve the sagging.
Suitability for mastopexy surgery would always be assessed at a detailed consultation, this being your chance to talk and for Elena to listen and then suggest a plan of best action.
Most who have sagging or drooping breasts are likely to be a good candidate, but as a specialist in breast procedures, Elena would advise in the consultation.
It is, of course, impossible to say in a web page whether any one prospective patient would be suitable.
However, please rest assured that Elena will always recommend the best breast treatment and only suggest an option truly in a patient’s best interests.
The procedure is carried out under general anaesthetic. The process takes around one or two hours and an overnight stay in hospital would often be required.
Elena would make an incision around the outside of the nipple and then one running in a vertical line from under the nipple.
Excess skin is cut away, the breast tissue reshaped and the nipple repositioned. The wounds are then closed and dressings applied.
While this is a procedure that can be undertaken by many surgeons, results naturally vary by the experience and skill level.
As a specialist in breast procedures, Elena is unmatched.
Final results would be visible after a number of months as scarring and swelling fades and the breasts return to a more natural shape.
Elena would hold regular follow-up appointments and be available to answer any questions or concerns at any time.
While the treatment cost of breast uplift varies, Elena is 100% upfront with fees and the cost for surgery would be detailed at consultation – this of course offered with no obligation, the prospective patient given time to go away and think through whether surgery truly is for them.
The treatment cost would be inclusive – surgeon and anaesthetist fees included, so too follow up appointments.

You may be certain that mastopexy is a treatment that would be beneficial but why consider Elena Prousskaia?
Elena is a cosmetic surgeon with approaching 20 years’ experience, she is known as one of the leading surgeons operating in the UK.
Starting her career at the North Bristol trust she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction as well as general plastic surgery.
Elena has held Fellowships around the world, including prestigious posts with Guys and St Thomas in London and Fellowships in Italy, Barcelona, India and the University Hospital of Tokyo.
As befitting a leading surgeon she has won awards and written for numerous leading medical journals.
These credentials and further details are outlined here are not mentioned to boast but to show Elena’s standing as a cosmetic surgeon.
Credentials are of course important, but so too the ethos of the cosmetic surgeon and their ability to truly listen to anyone considering surgery.
Of her ethos, Elena says:
“The one thing that matters most to me when I am with a patient is empathy.
“It is only when you are able to identify and understand your patients’ problems that you can begin to help resolve them satisfactorily. A good surgical outcome is not the only thing that matters.
“Everything that you do and say to a patient has to come from your heart. I consider myself very lucky to be able to share my passion for what I do and hopefully bring a bit more happiness into my patients’ lives.
The independent reviews back up Elena’s skill as a surgeon and ethos – universally five-star reviews across multiple independent sites.
For many women, breast uplift surgery can be a positive way to restore a sense of body confidence, boosting self-esteem, and allowing the wearing of tops without a bra, despite perhaps having had children. With rejuvenated breasts, women may feel more attractive.
As a specialist in breast surgery, Elena can advise you during your consultation of the full range of options available. For some women, breast enlargement or reduction may be a more beneficial procedure, but there are several possibilities.
While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 2.5-3 hours, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.

Elena will talk you through all the necessary pre-surgery investigations, as well as the after-care required. She will also fully explain the risks associated with the operation. We will only go ahead with the procedure once you are completely ready and happy with the choice we have made together.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. Your breasts will be swollen and bruised for about two weeks. You’ll likely feel pain and soreness around the incisions, which will be red or pink for a few months. Numbness in your nipples, areolae and breast skin might last for about six weeks. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
