Nipple reconstruction surgery is available in Bristol with Elena Prousskaia, a world-leading cosmetic surgeon who has held the prestigious Fellowship in Microsurgical Breast Reconstruction and Breast Oncoplastic Surgery at London’s Guys and St Thomas Hospitals.
Relative to other cosmetic procedures, nipple reconstruction is a quick and simple operation and one that can be carried out under local anaesthetic at the Bristol Spire.
Often, this procedure is the final step in completing the desired end look of firmer, more youthful breasts.
Nipple reconstruction surgery is a procedure that many surgeons in Bristol are qualified to undertake, so why consider Elena?
Elena is not only one of the leading surgeons operating in the UK, she is one of a very small number of leading female surgeons.
While gender of the surgeon of course has no bearing on their skills, a female surgeon is uniquely aware of the impact of some forms of cosmetic surgery and how important the procedure can be to self esteem and sense of self.
This comes across in Elena’s ethos. She always undertakes lengthy consultations with prospective patients, this to fully talk through their hopes and concerns for surgery and to give a clear picture of what surgery can achieve, how it would proceed and also the after care.
In the case of nipple reconstruction, small, secondary adjustments to the reconstructed breast might also be undertaken or at least discussed. These might include contralateral reduction, uplift, or lipofilling to the flap to help ensure matching shape and volume. Elena’s expertise, specialism in breast reconstruction and ethos would ensure this was fully discussed in consultation.
It is of course easy to speak of having a superb reputation, but reviews have to back it up. In Elena’s case, the reviews are universally positive, and please do take the time to read what previous patients have said.

The fact that all patients speak of positive outcomes is also testimony to Elena’s experience.
She is a cosmetic surgeon with a nearly 20 years’ experience, this having trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
She has held Fellowships around the world, including Milan, Spain, India and the stunning University Hospital Tokyo. Elena holds many international awards and certifications and has been published in leading medical journals. This is not mentioned to be boastful, merely to point out that she is the highest echelon of cosmetic surgeons.

Normally, after a one-night stay, you would go home once the drains are removed. You may feel tightness of your breasts after this surgery. This is normal and it will improve gradually. You should avoid all sport activities, housework such as hovering, driving, dog walking for at least 4-6 weeks following surgery and any weight lifting or strenuous activities for up to 8-12 months following the surgery. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning a gym routine focused on lower body strength.
The Elena Prousskaia Clinic prides itself on the quality of its aftercare so we’ll make absolutely sure you know what to expect, and how much rest is needed. We’ll give you specific instructions that may include how to care for your breasts following surgery, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the risk of infection, and when to follow-up with Elena.

While complications with surgery are infrequent, no surgical procedure is without risks. Among the possible complications are scars, infection, haematoma, implant displacement, breast asymmetry and implant rupture. Elena will provide you with further information with the risks and provide you with a detailed consent form during your consultations. This will help you to minimise the risks.
Generally speaking this surgery takes around 60-90 minutes, although this varies depending on the nature of the procedure.
After surgery it is normal to experience some discomfort, the level of which varies widely amongst patients. There is rarely prolonged pain unless there is a complication and in all cases you will be prescribed pain medication.
The shape of implants can be round or anatomical (teardrop). Both can provide an excellent result. The outer shell and the filling may vary depending on the manufacturer. Miss Prousskaia has never used PIP implants in her practice and she will offer you high quality implants from the best manufacturers. You will discuss with Miss Prousskaia which specific shape and size of implant would give you the optimal result. You should know that in the European Union (EU) 95% of implants used for breast augmentation are made of silicone gel and only 5% contains other type of fillings such as saline. Mentor Silicone Gel-Filled Breast Implants are devices with shells constructed from silicone elastomer. The shell is filled with MemoryGel®, Mentor’s proprietary formulation of silicone gel.
Ms Elena Prousskaia has been carrying out aesthetic and plastic surgery procedures for more than 20 years. Elena trained for eight years in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and since then has held leading Fellowships around the world and specialised in breast surgery procedures, whether a patient is having the procedure for purely aesthetic reasons or as part of breast reconstruction. As an NHS Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon at Southmead Hospital, she dedicated several years to complex microsurgical reconstruction and general plastic surgery. During this time at North Bristol Trust, she particularly enjoyed rebuilding patients who suffered from breast cancer giving them their body and confidence back. At present, Ms Prousskaia runs her own successful private practice performing full range of plastic and aesthetic surgery for face, body and breast. Elena Prousskaia consults in several clinics around the South West. Please see the ‘Our Locations’ tab in the menu for exact addresses or call us to discuss your closest location.
Elena prides herself on taking the time to truly understand a patient’s aims and discussing what result will work best given the patient’s body shape and size. Although good results are expected, the body is not symmetric and almost everyone has some degree of unevenness, which may not be recognized in advance. The more realistic your expectations as to results, the better your results will be in your eye. You will have at least two consultations with Elena where she ensures that she meets your expectations and she will always try to achieve your desired results.
The total cost of the surgery will be confirmed after the first consultation.
The cost includes the hospital, surgeon and anaesthetic fees. It also covers all post-operative visits. The initial consultation fee will be invoiced separately. The prices apply only at the time of publication and are subject to changes without notification.
