About This Treatment

Now with a base in the beautiful Spire Private Hospital, renowned cosmetic surgeon Elena Prousskaia is available for anyone seeking a tummy tuck in Bristol.

The effects of a tummy truck, or abdominoplasty to use its proper name, can be truly life enhancing and we will talk about that a little more further down the page.

However, why consider Elena as the person to carry out the tummy tuck, what makes her stand out among cosmetic surgeons in Bristol and beyond?

Elena is one of the UK’s leading plastic and cosmetic surgeons and one of very few females in the field.

Elena is outstanding in three ways, namely her:

  • level of qualifications and experience
  • her ethos and her manner with patients
  • Her reviews and reputation, what her patients say about her

Elena is one of the UK’s leading plastic and cosmetic surgeons and one of very few females in the field.

As with all leading cosmetic surgeons, her level of training and experience is great – she completed eight years training in plastic and reconstructive surgery and then undertook a three-year Fellowship at, among other hospitals, Guys and St Thomas’s in London.

She has had further fellowships abroad, including in Tokyo, seeing the latest International advances in the field of cosmetic surgery.

Elena is a Board Certified UK Consultant Plastic Surgeon – among many other qualifications – and has won numerous awards for her work and her research.

On this site, it is possible to see Elena’s awards, certificates and details of her publications – this is not to boast, but instead to back up the claim that she truly is one of the leading cosmetic surgeons in the UK.

Just as importantly, Elena’s ethos is to put potential patients at ease, to really listen to what they hope to achieve through any surgery. The initial consultation is in-depth, as long as it needs to be and also honest.

As Elena says:

“The one thing that matters most to me when I am with a patient is empathy.

It is only when you are able to identify and understand your patients’ problems that you can begin to help resolve them satisfactorily. A good surgical outcome is not the only thing that matters. Everything that you do and say to a patient has to come from your heart.

It is of course easy to talk of an ethos, but is it matched by what patients say?

Elena’s reviews are almost uniformly five stars.

On the iwantgreatcare.org site, she has 100% five star reviews and glowing testimonials, similarly the reviews of her work in Bristol, including tummy tucks, are all five stars on Google. Please do take the time to seek out reviews of any cosmetic surgeon you are considering to get a feel whether they are the right person for you.

Tummy Tuck Bristol – Putting Patients First

With the right surgeon to put the patient at ease, discuss any concerns and offer real care before, during and after the procedure, a tummy tuck can be a hugely beneficial procedure.

It is actually a straightforward procedure but one that has a huge impact on the patient’s confidence and, with it, quality of life.

The tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty reshape the abdomen and stomach to give a flatter, smoother profile free of any bulges.

Carrying out the tummy tuck at Bristol’s Spire private hospital, Elena would remove excess skin and fat, then tightening the deep tissue or fascia over the muscles. Most patients can have up to 50% of the abdominal skin removed, enough for any stretch marks to be a thing of the past.

The belly button is also reshaped as part of the tummy tuck and the scar will be well hidden by underwear.

The tummy tuck is a procedure where several techniques can be used and so it is vital for patient and surgeon to come to a decision together and only after a long conversation and examination.

It is also a procedure where results are quickly seen. After two or three hours of tummy tuck surgery, the patient would then typically spend one or two night in the hospital – and this in the beautiful Bristol Spires hospital – a couple of weeks recovering and be fully recovered inside two or three months.

For further information, we have a tummy tuck brochure, which includes further information on the different types of tummy tuck – for instance some patients will be suitable for a mini tummy tuck.

You can also see examples of patients before and after the tummy tuck surgery to get a sense of what is achievable by Elena and her team at Bristol Spires Hospital.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Does Abdominoplasty Surgery Entail?

Elena will restore the shape of your tummy by removing the excess skin and fat, then tightening the deep tissue or fascia overlying the muscles. For most patients, between 30-50% of the abdominal skin can be removed, eradicating any stretch marks that had been present on that skin. She will also reshape your belly button. Your scar will be well hidden by your underwear. There are several cosmetic surgery techniques she can offer and making the correct choice for you is very important. It is a decision which you will make together after a long conversation and examination in the clinic.

How Long Does It Take To Recover From Abdominoplasty Surgery?

Typically, abdominoplasty patients are able to stop medication in about a week, stand straight in 2-4 weeks, begin driving in 4-6 weeks, begin exercises in 8-12 weeks, be back to most all activities 2 months. Elena will talk you through all the intricacies of the surgery, offering advice on how best to prepare and how to look after yourself during the recovery period. The visibility of your scars will depend on the technique used and on the biological response of your body to surgery and healing. Generally, the scars after this type of surgery are almost invisible by the end of the year. Patients can benefit from taking four-six weeks off work, and after you have seen Ms Prousskaia for your four weeks follow up you can discuss beginning other activities.

Will Abdominoplasty Be A Good Weight Loss Procedure For Me?

Abdominoplasty procedure helps to remove skin and fat excess from abdominal areas and does help to reduce certain excess of skin & weight. However if you are in a process of losing weight it is highly recommendable to lose all the weight you are planning to loose in order to achieve best possible result with your tummy tuck. In patients with high body mass index tummy tuck may not provide desired result and complications rate is higher. Therefore Ms Prousskaia would normally recommend to the patient to complete weight loose journey prior to surgery and to be in a stable weight for at least 6-12 months prior to tummy tuck surgery.

How Long Can I Have An Abdominoplasty After Pregnancy?

It is recommendable to fully recover after pregnancy prior to having abdominoplasty at least a year post pregnancy. Also its important to consider that you may not be able to lift heavy weight including baby up to 9 months after abdominoplasty surgery.

Can I Have Surgery with A Smaller Scar, such as A “Mini” Tummy Tuck Or Just Liposuction?

That is something that your surgeon will advise you after examination as it depends on several factors, including amount of tissue that needs removal and if muscle repair is required.

Will The Results Last?

Tightening of the Fascia is done with permanent sutures. The removed skin and fat excess will not come back unless you gain significant amount of weight.
